Evolution Korea

For a long time, the Korean scientific community was hesitant about working with creationists due to the fear of giving the movement more credence. The silence is no longer an alternative.

The STR has been campaigning to get rid of textbooks that discuss evolution, including the discovery of the feathered dinosaur Archaeopteryx as an ancestor of birds. This is only one aspect of the evolution of the developmental paradigm.

What is Evolution?

Evolution is a theory of science that explains changes in genetic traits over time. The theory is based on the fact that living things adapt to their environments and this can lead to changes in genes or even complete genomes. Over many generations these changes could result in the creation of new species. Natural selection is the most popular theory of evolution. It describes how individuals who have advantages survive and reproduce more than those with disadvantageous ones. This differential reproduction can, over time, lead to the creation and evolution of new species.

The term "evolution" is derived from the Latin word meaning unrolling or revealing, but the concept itself has a myriad of meanings since it took form in the fields of science and other fields. Some early evolutionists, including Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Erasmus Darwin (Charles's grandfather), believed that existing species transformed into other species in a planned manner. Etienne Geoffroy St-Hilaire, Lamarck's embryologist student who invented the term "transmutation" to describe this theory. Charles Lyell, in his Principles of Geology, 에볼루션코리아 published in 1833, attacked the concept of evolution and borrowed the term from Geoffroy's student.

Evolutionary biologists define evolution more recently as a process by which living creatures develop traits to increase their chances of surviving or producing offspring. Other changes that aren't genetic, such as an increase in muscle mass through exercise or diet, can't be considered to be evolution since they aren't passed down to future generations.

Despite the fact that evolution has stood the test of time and thousands of scientific studies however, creationists have taken advantage of the idea that the theory is controversial to argue that it shouldn't be taught in school. Other creationists believe that God created the universe and all living things in one event, referred to as the Great Flood. Creationists believe that all the species of the beginning were created at the same time and then gradually evolved. They reject the concept of abiogenesis and assert that self-replicating life can't come from nonliving matter.

In general, the creationists oppose the teaching of evolution in schools. This position is supported by numerous professional organizations which include the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Science Teacher Education and the American Anthropological Association, and 무료에볼루션 the Geological Society of America. Some academic institutions and scientists, however, are more flexible and allow both evolution and creationism to be incorporated into their curricula.

What is Creationism?

When people think of the concept of creationism, they often think of the United States. However, South Korea is also home to an anti-evolution movement. STR claims that it has the support of 4,000 families and individual members. Its goal, it says, is to rid the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" which portrays an image of students as being negative. The root causes are unclear, but may include religious beliefs or the absence of full-time creation scientists in the country.

The KACR accomplished a number of things through its seminars and lectures in the past. It publishes a bimonthly news magazine, Creation, and has published books. The most notable of these is a text on the natural sciences, with a creationist viewpoint, which attracted the attention of college communities. In 1991, a professor along with a minister, began teaching Creation Science at one university. It is still taught to students today.

On August 6 and 7, 1993, KACR hosted a second International Symposium on Creation Research. It was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Expo in Daejeon. Six lecturers from abroad including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin addressed a crowd of more than a thousand. KACR members and KACR have also given lectures on creation science in major seminaries. KACR plans to create a Creation Science Education Center in the future.
