Seats

Most 3 wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs, but some can be converted to take a second seat or carrycot by converting adapters (these are usually more common in tandem buggies). Certain models let you add an extra board to older kids who are ready to walk, but require a little help.

Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for a lightweight option perfect for urban streets. It's a breeze to move and comes with a deep basket that has plenty of storage space. It can accommodate twins from at birth and accepts two car seats, or a carrycot with seat. The seats are required to be oriented forward and there's no space for a shopping bag underneath which is why you'll need a sidepack to do this.

If you like to take off-road trips, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a good choice. It's a side-by-side with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. It's much easier to get through narrow doors, on public transport and to climb over and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar features a handbrake for added safety and security.

Another option that is lightweight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double it can be used for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats feature multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, while the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun from your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies that are available due to its outstanding comfort. It is a true all-terrain pushchair with soft suspension to make easy work of bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate a massive 30 seating configurations, and comes with a built-in ride-on for older children who prefer to walk, as well as a 'cinema' seating mode which raises the back seat for better visibility.

The phil&teds dot is a great single buggy that is available from day one that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3!) in a variety of configurations. This is especially useful for parents who have children in your car. The frame can be adapted to a wedgie that allows for the most optimal lying-flat position. Or car seat adapters that fit a wide range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheel pushchair cheap-wheel buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is crucial since babies can feel every bump on the road, especially if it's on rough terrain like grass or unpaved paths. Certain models come with locking front tires to aid in maneuvering and navigating obstacles like curbs.

Some models come with air-filled tyres that provide a fantastic all-terrain ride, but can be prone to punctures so make sure you have spares in the trunk.
