How to Repair Bifold Door Top Roller Guide

If your bifold door is squeaking it's likely they need some attention. It is possible that you need to clean or lubricate them, or even adjust them. The problem could be caused by a loose bolt on the top pivot, or by the top guide roller.

Take the door off

It may seem complicated and challenging to put in an internal set of bifold doors, but for DIYers with some experience it is actually quite simple. Removing the bottom pivot adjustment screw, loosening the top track's mounting screws, and moving the anchor/pivot pin is usually enough to clear this issue.

A set top roller with new guides could be a low-cost solution to your bifold doors becoming difficult to operate. They are typically available at the local hardware store in the door section. However, they can be ordered online from several vendors. In addition to a new top roller guide, you will require a small amount of Elmer's wood glue that is available in big box stores, as well as a squeeze clamp.
