Three Wheeled Buggies

Whether you're looking for a buggy to run around in or a compact stroller for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily even in tight spaces.

Sturdy frame

The latest figures have been released revealing that the three-wheeled vehicle - a symbol of the noughties of more money than sanity is in a decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easy to drive and look stylish.

The larger the wheels are the better your buggy will cope with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back makes it much easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy out with an infant and a 3 wheeler buggy-year-old child and found it extremely robust. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is sturdy to push and extremely solid when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasionally pumping) come with suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to think about is the size of the seat and shape. You will want it to be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have the option of lying flat that lets your child face you, while others only allow a parent-facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This could be an issue if you plan to use it as a jogger or have to squeeze through narrow doorways while on the move. Most models come with compact folding options that let you remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.

Easy to Manoeuvre

A three-wheeled buggy is easier to maneuver with a child. They are designed so that the front wheels be turned on a dime and are easy to navigate, making them ideal for terrains that are difficult, such as parks, cobblestones as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler with her toddler and newborn and said: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough ground and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. I found it to be extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven ground."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of if your home area is an urban area. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better option for you.
