The Xplore also features dual canopies that turn from front to back, providing ample sun coverage for all family members. It has a smaller footwell than other wagons. This might not be suitable for long trips or naps.

The frame of the Xplore wagon is solid and sturdy, but it doesn't bend as much as some other wagons we have tried. It is also more difficult than other wagons to fold and it isn't able to lock securely when folded. It is easy to move, however, and fits through narrow doors of 28 inches.

3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side

This Delta Children bare-bones travel stroller is a great option for parents who are seeking a second single stroller that is affordable. It was awarded an impressive score in our Strollers and Multiples test for weight and folded size that means it's lightweight, small when collapsed and easy to move into a trunk of a car or closet. It also comes with a multi-position reclined seat and cup holders for the parent. Other important features include 360-degree shock absorbing front wheels and two large hanging storage bags.

In our test of the push and turn, it did better than the majority of other cheap Single pushchair strollers we tested, but it's still not the easiest to maneuver on uneven ground or through narrow doors. The sunshades on it were among the smallest strollers we test. They only cover the top and do not have peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 and Zoe Twin+ have much larger canopy sizes.

The Delta took us just over 3 minutes to put together using an average manual and no components required tools. But, it's lacking certain essential features we believe it is important to consider as non-negotiable features for a double stroller such as an extra-large basket and reclining seats with adjustable leg rests.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is the latest addition to Maxi-Cosi's pushchair range and is advertised as an urban travel system. It is designed to accommodate babies from birth to approximately 3.5 years old, and can be converted between a seat and a carrycot by just a few clicks. It can also be used with Maxi Cosi capsule car seats, and comes with the lightweight Mico 30 infant car seat, a stay-in-car base and a reversible carriage.

The seat can be reclined with one hand and the large shopping basket makes it easy for parents to help their child in and out. Despite being a small pushchair, it was able to handle the everyday bumps well and slid through doors without any fuss.

The front wheels can be locked in an forward position or let them swivel which helps when covering rough terrain. On our walk along the stony path we let them move and it did this quite well, although it seemed a little bumpier than others in our test.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Baby Jogger is known for their three-wheeled, all-terrain jogging pushchairs, but they also make a good assortment of strollers with four wheels. The City Tour 2 is one of their most sought-after models. It is easy to fold and can fit in the boot of a car even with a carrycot attached.

It is heavier than the other strollers we've tested, but because it has composite wheels made of rubber it feels solid and well-constructed. It maneuvers expertly across different kinds of terrain, and it's easy to move, even when loaded with two kids and shopping bags.

Both the seat and the carrycot come with hoods that can be removed to reveal UV50+ sun canopy extension. They are durable and waterproof, unlike other hoods for prams, which can be blown back onto toddlers faces.

It does not have much storage space but it has a large, deep basket to accommodate a changing bag or plenty of food. You can also connect it with the Baby Jogger infant car seat to create a travel system for babies as big as 20 pounds (car seat and adapters are sold separately). The City Tour 2 is a good choice if you want to use a stroller on the go.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

When the Nuna Mixx first appeared on the scene it stole the hearts of parents across the world. It's a stroller made of aluminum that can be used from baby's first days to beyond. It has a number of notable features, including the possibility of flipping the seat to be parent-facing and world-facing, a large UPF 50+ canopy with a flip out eyeshade and a spacious basket as well as an adjustable handlebar.

The wheels are tough and foam-filled which minimises punctures. The chassis is equipped with built-in suspension that eases the pain of rough terrain. Our tester found it to be smooth to push and was able to maneuver it through tight streets with ease.

It folds in four simple steps and automatically locks without fuss. It can also be rolled and raised for easier transportation down the stairs or in the trunk of the car. The travel system is available with the option of adding an additional car seat or carrycot using the adaptors that are included. The brakes are easy to use, using a single standing stroller color coded and flip-flop friendly.

This budget pushchair is simple to operate and features a fantastic dual suspension. It can be folded by one hand and comes with a handy carrying strap. It's also very light and sturdy. The seat can be reclined into many positions and is equipped with a double breathable mattress that's suitable from birth.

The canopy/seat has two large fixed or flip-out sun visors. Both are UPF50+. The toggle closure isn't the best as it’s not as quiet as Velcro, and can wake up napping babies.
