WoW Item Upgrades

More commonly referred to as "upping"--are an enchantment and item that can be applied to weapons and armor pieces to boost their stats. These upgrade items increase the gauge of an item by a specified amount of points. Their costs scale depending on their rarity.

A perfectly rolled version of this armor is highly sought-after in the melee PvP community due to its ability to reduce the amount of damage a weapon can cause.

Type-restricted upgrades

Upgrades are a crucial element of the crafting process. Upgrades can increase the effectiveness of an item, make it stronger or give it a bonus effect. They can also change the appearance of an item. Certain upgrades are universal, while others are governed by specific rules for weapons and armor. The wrong upgrade could ruin a weapon that was otherwise amazing, or even render it unusable.

As a rule, you can only upgrade an item of equipment to the level of its most advanced counterpart. This means that you can only upgrade the helms, body armors and gloves and shields to the level of their most elite counterparts. Weapons can be upgraded to the level equivalent of the sword.
