WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the item upgrader kit being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item upgrading, it will cost you 105.

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists.
