Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good robot vacuum value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. 2. IRobot Roomba X30

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and Best Robot Hoover vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily.
