World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of an item upgrader mod's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. The average level of an item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the level of an item. It's a sign of the damage and quality. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are several theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates how much an item level upgrade's stats are worth. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the item. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the level of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate players to experiment with other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage, special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the level of the item, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it is an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in the early game as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item upgrader kit up to 140.

Additionally, certain items, such as the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shops or made by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. Each item has a base success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This could obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
