The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and best robot hoover pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor best robot hoover after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. Also the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot auto vacuum and mop to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning robot mop and vacuum or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
