It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house depending on how dirty these areas tend to be.
