Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, also known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through many different methods that include using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to boost their value.

You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available in the world as well as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. Upgrade components are the most common method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots that can be upgraded and some require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while other components offer an overall bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools, and provide a variety of benefits, from increasing the speed of an item upgrader Kit's gathering to supplying additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing the expected stats after the upgrade, along with any necessary components or materials. If you do not have enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.

The number of upgrade components required for a particular item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but can be reduced through a variety of methods, including purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.

Most weapons can be upgraded with an upgrade to a prefix for example, an insignia or rune. Many can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. These upgrades add an adjective to the item level upgrade's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs can be a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They are animated to grab the viewer's attention and spur interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them more effective in communicating the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the recall of messages by creating a familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph has a set of values that it could improve a stat by, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This is not the actual amount at which glyphs can improve the stat, but rather the maximum value by which it can increase a stat. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the product you are enchanting.

Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be repaired or replaced without dismantling the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the Best item upgrade to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can remove any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item upgrader kit where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be retrieved with the glyph shards.

When you remove an item after adding a glyph the shards from that glyph will disappear. You can also add a glyph to your equipment to give it an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who suffer a lot damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, such as mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives players a new random affix, which is typically better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the upgrade menu, however they are still eligible to receive upgrades. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle the items that have been rerolled. This will alter the design of the item's window, and allow up to six items be selected for recycling. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is by the rarity of the item and its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.

Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance of a weapon's traits. If it scores higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolling is an excellent method to improve an item. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl is diminished by the number of that it took to reroll it to the final ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective with Diadems and ring items that do not have any competing ilvl-raising options.

The reroll system has been criticized by players for being too expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it with money or food items that would allow players to modify their builds without a lot of time and energy. The developers aren't planning to introduce paid rerolls at this stage of the game's development. They plan to add a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the future.

Leveling

There are several ways to upgrade an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade to an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This boosts the upgrade value for the stat. The second is to increase the effect of upgrading that increases the damage or heal of a specific stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel, but will be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.

It is crucial to remember that upgrades can be random. Most of the time, a better roll will result from glyphs, however there are also chances for greater or special rolls.
