The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and best robot hoover can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic hoovers vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some additional cost it's a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd imagine from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
