Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player has to choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the necessary material or component needed for the upgrade to take place.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which comprise gems, can be put in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple items.

If an item is finished being leveled, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, and a boost in the chance that the upgrade item will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.

When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available is determined by the item's class. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones and crests depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will have less chance of success.

To determine the height of a structure engineers use a level to compare the measurement to a known reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can significantly increase the strength of an item and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done via the Best item upgrader menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be used in very rare instances.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you could get the stats that mattered most to your build often than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each statistic. This could be a positive or bad thing depending on your needs and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the better your chances of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also has a number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a good method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can give players a faster route to a more powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be of various sizes, contain no elements at all, or have a single element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.

There are many set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.

Set items can be upgraded to include specific tools that are suitable for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level with their levels. For example the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The attributes of the item upgrader kit will be displayed together with any required items. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. This will also increase the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
