If you're on a tight budget and don't need a stroller that can double as car seat carriers the Babyzen Yoyo is a good choice. It has a simple one-step foot brake that's flip flop friendly.

It's simple to push, and it feels solid when navigating kerbs and woodland paths. Additionally, it's easy to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has built a reputation as the ultimate lightweight buggy for jet-setters and city dwellers alike, thanks to its extremely nimble handling and fold-down that fits into the overhead luggage of an aeroplane. This latest version boasts independent suspension on all four wheels that is made from Hytrel elastomer that allows it to perfectly navigate through all kinds of surfaces and terrain'.

The frame's base YOYO2 frame, curved fabric bassinet and six-month color pack form a stylish pushchair that's easy on the eye, with a subtle but elegant design and a tasteful branding. The base frame alone weighs just under a kilo and is so light you can easily lift it from the box (and do it using one hand).

It's also simple to add or remove adaptors or attachments like the hood for instance, snaps onto the YOYO2 using reassuring clicks and is machine washable at 30 degrees to prevent staining from rice cakes that have been smashed and half-dissolved carrot puffs. The Newborn Pack and bassinet can be used from birth as a pram. It could also be converted into a stroller at 6 months with the YOYO connect other chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The frame on the Xplore feels sturdy and solid but it doesn't have as much flexibility as other wagons we have tested. It is also more difficult to fold than many of the competitors and it doesn't close tightly when folded. It is easy to move, however, and fits through doors that are narrower than 28 inches.

3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side

This bare-bones double stroller from Delta Children is an excellent option for parents seeking an affordable second stroller for their travels. It scored high in our Strollers & Multiples Test for its weight and folded dimensions, which means it's lightweight single stroller, compact when folded, and easy to move and store in a trunk for your car. It also has a multi-position reclining seat and a cup holder for the parent. Other key features include 360-degree shock absorbing front wheels and two large storage bags that hang from the ceiling.

It did better in our push and turn test than a lot of the other strollers we tested, but was still difficult to maneuver over uneven ground or through narrow doors. The sunshades are among the smallest we tested, offering only direct overhead coverage, and no peekaboo windows. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 has a much larger canopy.

The Delta took us just over three minutes to put together using an average manual, and none of the components required tools. But, it's lacking some essential features that we think it is important to consider as non-negotiable features for a double stroller for example, a larger basket and reclining seats that have adjustable leg rests.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is Maxi-Cosi’s newest pushchair that is advertised as an urban travel system. It is designed to carry infants from birth until approximately 3.5 years, converting easily between a carrycot and seat in just a few clicks. It can be used with Maxi-Cosi capsule car seats and comes complete with the light Mico 30 infant car seat, a stay-in-car base, and a reversible car.

It's really easy to maneuver and the one-hand recline of the seat and the super large shopping basket make it easy for parents to get their child in and out of the seat quickly. This compact pushchair can handle everyday bumps and doorways with ease.

The front wheels are able to be locked in a forward position and can also swivel. This is useful in rough terrain. On our walk through the stony trail, we let them swivel and it did this quite well, though it did appear a little bumpier than others that we tested.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Baby Jogger is famous for their three-wheeled, all-terrain pushchairs for jogging, but they also have a wide assortment of strollers with four wheels. City Tour 2 is their most popular model. It is easy to use and folds up small single stroller enough to fit into a car boot even with the carrycot attached.

It's a little heavier than the other strollers we tested but the wheels are a rubber composite, which makes it feel well-built and durable. It is easy to maneuver across different terrains, and even with two children, a shopping bag and other items.

The carrycot and seat both have hoods with pull-down UV50+ sun canopy extensions. They are strong and waterproof, in contrast to other hoods for prams, which can be blown back into toddlers' faces.

It's not the biggest of storage space, but it does have a big basket that's deep enough for an infant's changing bag and plenty of food items. You can also use it with a Baby Jogger car seat for infants who weigh 20 pounds or less (car seat and adapters are sold separately). If you require a stroller that is able to be taken on the road, the City Tour 2 is an excellent choice.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

When the Nuna Mixx first appeared on the scene, it stole the hearts of parents all over the world. It's an aluminium framed stroller that will be with you throughout your baby's first years and beyond. It has a number of notable features, including the ability to flip the seat from parent to the world, a large UPF 50+ canopy with an eye-shade that flips out and a spacious basket as well as an adjustable handlebar.

The chassis comes with a suspension system built-in which reduces the impact of bumpy terrain. The wheels are made of tough foam and reduce punctures. Our tester found it to be smooth to push and was able to manoeuvre it through narrow streets without difficulty.

It folds automatically and locks in just four steps. It can also be rolled and stood up for easier transportation down the stairs or in the car's boot. The travel system is also offered with the option of adding an additional car seat or carrycot using the adaptors included. The brakes come with a single stroller action and are colour coded. They also work with flip-flops.

7. Babyzen Duet

This budget single strollers that connect pushchair is surprisingly easy to handle and comes with great dual suspension, one-hand fold and a convenient carry strap. It's also light and robust. The seat can be reclined into many different positions. It also comes with a double breathable mattress that is suitable for infants.

The canopy/seat comes with two large sun visors, which can be fixed or removed. Both are UPF50+. The toggle closure isn’t ideal because it's not as quiet as Velcro, and can cause sleepy babies to wake up.

The Duet is a stroller with an angled design that can be used for twins or siblings. (Up to 22kg per seat). It's compatible with two infant car seats and even works with a few carrycots. In twin mode the seats can be placed so that they face each other. They can also be set to face the parents. This can help to reduce sibling arguments over who gets seated with mom and dad. It comes with a large bottle holder, a gear tray snack tray, and the ability to change mats. It also has a superior compact stand fold and automatic frame lock.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2

The Thule Urban glide 2 is a great jogger for parents who love to be active. It's among the lightest strollers for running that you can buy for your child. It also has great safety features, including the 5-point safety harness and wrist safety strap. It also has a twist hand brake which is different from the lever type that is found on other models.

The seat is well padded and provides plenty of space to sit. However the seat's isn't as deep as those of other joggers (it's only about 10") The storage bin is equipped with an open-top cover that can be closed to keep items secure. It can hold up to 10 pounds that is enough for most diaper bags.

The Urban Glide 2 doesn't come with adapters that will fit the majority of bassinets and infant car seats, but you can use them from the very first day using adapters that work with brands like BOB, Graco Combi Evenflo Britax UPPAbaby. It folds compactly and takes 5-10 minutes to assemble with no tools. The manual is easy-to-understand and comes in a variety of languages.
