Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you have to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, has the ability to clean corners and stairs and also has an enormous bin that needs to be emptying every so often.

You can also find models that clean and charge themselves which can be important for people with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.

Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including getting rid of any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. Battery life is about an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its Auto Vacuum cleaner-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot using the app or via voice.

In our testing the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, Auto Vacuum Cleaner including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room and auto Vacuum cleaner vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households, but it also fits nicely on the coffee table or shelves that you can spin around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.

This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments as well as the Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its sluggish run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a standard battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean a typical-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second pass is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times for an efficient clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. 5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

The app provides a range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments docking frequency settings and many more. The app is easy to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we've tested which could be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
