Its motor of 8,000pa is able to pick up dirt as well as pet hair and droppings with ease. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help to tease away debris from corners.

The base has several control buttons, which allow you to manually start cleaning tasks and then recall the best robot vacuum or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two buttons to toggle the child lock that is a great option for parents concerned about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

Similar to other robotic hoovers vacuums, the Omni Omni uses its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more precise in finding objects.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni could sometimes get so entangled with an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you free it. This was a rare occurrence however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its application.

The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but the mopping pad doesn't get washed or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a big contrast to the utilitarian, black bases of competitors like Roborock and iRobot and is a refreshing sight in a space which is dominated by clunky boxy models.
