1. iRobot Roomba j7+

The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most advanced robot vacuum to date. Its greatest advancement is an obstacle detection system that utilizes built-in AI to detect objects such as charging cords, shoes, and the pet waste that most other robots can't avoid (and often plough right through). It's the first robot to send you pictures of the objects that it encounters, meaning you can tell that it is safe to avoid it.

The Combo J7+ is the best robot mop that we have ever tested. It cleans up dirt and spills effortlessly, leaving no trace that it was there. The iRobot application makes it simple to control. It can schedule cleanings and even create Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't sweep in areas you don’t wish to. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start it and stop it with a voice.

Its design is also superior to the rest, with a sleek top piece that appears more like a toy than a loud, obnoxious one. And the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal System self-empties and is ideal to speed up cleaning.

In our tests, the j7+ was quick to pick up and remove dust, dirt and pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in its place rather than scattering it around the floor washing robot. It was able capture small gravel, sand and even a bit of grit. Most robots could not achieve this feat. And all this without getting tangled up in our pet's shedding hair.

While it's not quite as smart as the Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum, which isn't able to clean stairs, the j7+ is still an excellent choice for those who require both mopping and a vacuum in their home. It's not too expensive, and the IRobot app makes it user-friendly.

Although the iRobot Home app is very easy to use however we've found it be less reliable than other apps that work with robotic cleaners. It can take some time to download updates and it can be difficult to know if they are working until you see them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking for a robotic vacuum cleaner that does more than simply clean your floors A hybrid is the ideal choice. This category of bots typically includes a built-in water tank which means they can vacuum and mop your house at the same time. These bots also have many additional features such as smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the ability to wash and re-dry mopping pads. They're costly at retail, but they often lower prices on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock produces some of our favorite robotic vacuums and the Q5+ does not disappoint. It's their cheapest auto-empty model, and while it lacks some of the premium features you'll find on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent choice if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save some hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeably gentle around obstacles such as tables and walls, which makes it a great choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough when it comes to cleaning dust bunnies, which is an area where cheaper robot vacuums often be a bit sloppy. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is fantastic as well, with only a few missed corners and on walls.

The Q5+, as with other Roborock products, can be controlled by a few buttons on the device, or via the Roborock App. The app lets you start and stop cleanings. You can also set up schedules, create virtual barriers and no-go zones and alter your home map, or re-label rooms.

If you choose the Q5+ it includes a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make this robot cleaner amazon easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, however, once it's in place it can be done easily. It also comes with a large LCD display which is great to have when setting up schedules or altering settings. This feature isn't necessary for most people but it can help effectively keep the robot's maintenance schedules.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's astonishingly smart in both its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design and functionality are some of the best on the market however, it's also expensive.

The base station is attractive and is easily hidden when not in use, and its size is quite compact. The primary selling point of the station is that it can automate many tasks, chores and functions that other robots leave to you. It can keep clean and dirty water and electrolyze and heat the water. Many other robots require you to do this.

And its vacuuming is impressive and efficient, too. It's the only robovac that I've tried that does a good job picking up dirt from floors that aren't. And it's not as loud as the expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

But the Freo X Ultra has its flaws, particularly in terms of navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs. This means that it could get stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of the house. It's also unable to climb stairs like other models and isn't equipped with a dock that can create a cleaning zone for plush carpets.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a great option for those looking for a robot vacuum that does everything.

If you're looking for a way to save money or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are other options on the market. Many eufy models cost considerably less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance is less expensive and provides a similar in-app experience with more features, including stairs, a fully-function dock, and better overall vacuuming performance on bare floors as well as high and low-pile carpets.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

Eufy is an Anker company that has a long history of creating robot vacuums with the right balance of performance, features, and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different, offering a capable cleaning on hard floors and mopping functions as well as carpets at a price that is affordable. It's easy to set up, just snap one of the side brushes on, turn it on, and plug it into the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps required to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. You'll need to place the dock close to an electrical outlet and plenty of room to allow it to move but.

The G30 is small, 2.85 inches tall to be exact, which means it can be tucked away under couches and other furniture with a low clearance. Its design is a little less flashy than some of the rival models, sporting sleek black finish and three buttons that are physical such as Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge, and Spot Cleaning (which scrubs a space in spiral patterns for 2 minutes). It is also possible to connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.

The most important feature that sets the G30 above the rest is the method it cleans. It uses an integrated map to make an image of the unmovable objects in its path. It keeps track of what it has already cleaned and the areas it was unable to access. It then returns to the base to recharge and then continues cleaning the area it left.

The sleek G30 has a few issues. The iRobot Roomba is built better and has lower recurring costs. It is faster to charge, has the same battery life and performs better on unfinished floors or low-pile carpet. It has a larger dust bin, which doesn't require more emptying. It also has boundary strips that keep it from certain areas. The G30 is less expensive and easier to maintain. Its smaller dust canister does not require emptying as often and it struggles less with heavy materials like cereal.
