Private ADHD Titration

There is a current national shortage of medication to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing issues and the growing demand for ADHD medications worldwide.

Our service is able to provide private ADHD testing as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A comprehensive assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be conducted with a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist. This includes medical history and an assessment using the common ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

After your evaluation You will be advised that medication may be beneficial for your specific situation. This will take place at your follow up appointment (which can be scheduled in person by video link, in person or by phone). Your physician will go over the different options for medication available. If you decide to start medication, we can help you to titrate your dose to optimize the benefits/side-effects balance for you.

This is a process which could take a few weeks, and involves adjusting your child's medication slowly until the right balance is reached. It is not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medications before you can find the one that is most suitable for your child's ADHD. It is essential for parents to be involved in this titration process and keep a close eye on their child's behavior to let the doctor know whether the medication is helping or causing adverse effects.

If you decide to go back to NHS treatment you will be issued an individual prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay for your prescription at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation cost. You'll be required to attend every six months to check your medication - this includes blood pressure and pulse readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be able to book follow up appointments with the psychiatrist as appropriate. The appointment will usually be conducted through a zoom video call. In some circumstances, it might be possible to have an audio-only appointment to be conducted (again with an additional cost).

We will then discuss treatment options and decide on a bespoke, individualised ADHD medication adjustment. This will include a review and discussion of your medication dosage and any side effects you may be experiencing.
