A robot vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency you need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and also has a large bin that will need to be emptied periodically.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot after it has filled up.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from hard floors and carpets, and they are very good in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we tested. It may get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes about three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or via the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After connecting, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households, but it also fits in well next to a coffee table or on shelves where you can move it around like the magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task that is being completed. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor vacuum robot.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments and a wand. This is a big improvement over earlier Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless best auto vacuum. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually can be effective). The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of debris types and sizes during our tests, and frequently goes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top choices, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often is power-depleted before making it back to its home base.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a longer battery life, can change its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of home electronics It's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum cleaner sale vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. This includes virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications, docking frequency settings and many more. The app is simple to learn and use, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well with taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.
